Saman Hosseinkhani is a Professor of Biochemistry at Tarbiat Modares University and associated member of Iran Academy of Sciences. His research specializes in the protein engineering of firefly luciferase, developing it as a reporter gene for monitoring biological processes. Recently, he has focused on creating novel luciferase-based biosensor to target protein complexes in various modes cancer models. In recognition of his expertise, he serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Society for Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence. One of his significant innovations includes the design of "peptideticle" structures for gene therapy, validated through luciferase assays. This work holds promise for peptide-based DNA vaccine development for cancer treatment. Professor Hosseinkhani has an extensive publication record, with over 350 international peer-reviewed articles (h-index=57), 7 review papers, and contributions to six books. He is also deeply engaged in science education and competition, having been actively involved with the Biology Olympiad association. His contributions led to his appointment to the Steering Committee of the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), and he currently holds the position of Vice-Chair of the organization.
